Story
Renu (Tejaswi) stays alone in her villa
when her parents go out for a wedding for a night. Vishal (Navdeep) is
her boyfriend who teases and scares Renu all the time. Meanwhile, a
series of abnormal sounds and paranormal happenings take place in the
bungalow for Renu after Vishal finds a graven image. Vishal doesn’t
believe Renu who from the first day gets weird and haunting dreams, and
says she is in hallucination stage. Does Vishal finally believe Renu and
the abnormal things happening? Will the duo survive fighting with extra
natural forces during their stay is the crux.
Performances
Navdeep is impressive and he has good comic-timing, but sadly he doesn’t have much to perform.
Tejaswi plays the
central role and the entire movie runs around her. She does what is
required for a horror genre as an innocent rich girl scared to death and
looked glamorous.
Rest of the casts Saraswathamma, Sandeepthi fills the screen to scare you.
Technical Analysis
RGV has introduced flowcam technology
with Ice Cream and the output is effective and doesn’t hinder the
proceedings. Background score is good in the horror scenes. Story is
predictable, screenplay is terrible and the narration is boring. Editing
is poor. Production values are okay.
Analysis
Ram Gopal Varma introduces the Flow
Camera technology with the film but Ice Cream hardly has an interesting
story or tight screenplay. Except for the initial minutes and the
pre-climax, Ice Cream fails to make you glued to the screens and has
nothing new to offer.
With extremely slow-paced narration,
this horror genre film hugely depends on the camera work and sound
design rather than the content. The film has 100 minutes run time, but
few more unnecessary scenes could have been easily edited. Varma has
released a press note on the nude scene for hype and it isn’t there in
the film. In addition, the climax is abrupt and doesn’t justify several
scenes.
Final Verdict
Ice Cream – Disappointing!!!
